Do You Find this Correction Painful?
On Monday we saw typical price action after a devastating session like Friday. That starts with an early bounce followed by another round of feverish profit taking and then another failed bounce.
Plain and simple, the bull market is not over. This is just a well overdue correction to wring out the excesses that come from a non-stop bullish year like 2013.
Unfortunately many of you fell into a trap in 2013 that is making this correction extra painful. As stocks climbed higher, the less you expected them to go down. This had you probably building a portfolio that had more aggressive stocks than usual (smaller caps, higher beta etc).
That was a glorious decision in 2013 as those stocks soared. Yet now you are receiving some dreadful payback as many of them are probably down 5-10% in just a couple days.
The solution is for you to look at your portfolio and diversify back to a situation that better suits your natural risk tolerance. That will probably include a higher allocation of more stable stocks to better weather storms like we are having now.
